Question by Dell: Do the pre-loaded Garmin GPS street maps include the Caribbean?
I have a standard nuvi Garmin GPS, bought in the US. I’m planning a trip to St. Maarten, and hope to use it there. Looking at the Garmin map list on the website, I don’t see a separate product for the Caribbean.
Are street maps for Caribbean islands already included in the standard map set pre-loaded into the units sold in the US? If not, do they sell them and where can I get one?

No, the Caribbean isn’t covered. Sorry. All I can suggest is to Google it. Of course, there aren’t nearly as many streets to worry about there. A good old-fashioned map would always work.

This is a tutorial on how to create a custom Garmin map by using google earth to create a KMZ file with an image overlay. Then take the KMZ file and drop it into your CustomMaps folder on your Garmin device. In this example, I am using a GPSMAP 62s. Compatible models are: Dakota Oregon Colorado GPSMAP 62 series GPSMAP 78 series Other notes: the size of the image overlay should be up to 2000×2000, otherwise you will have problem with google earth. Also resize the images to 155 dpi if they are higher. Don’t need to increase from 72dpi up, as that won’t make a difference and only will increase file size.
